Terrible, Terrible, I know….
I’m a slacker in the blogworld. I know, HOWEVER, not a slacker in the real world!
I was overwhelmed with work, shoots, and most hectic (and important) of all: MOVING!
As of December 1, 2007, I’m officially a Manhattanite! Well, a Washington Heightser…
Besides the hellish move I’ve:
- enrolled in NYIP (New York Institute of Photography
- shot a new model Brandon (results can be seen at www.myspace.com/whimsyphotography)
- modeled for category_6 Images (results coming soon)
- submitted for and auditioned for two short films (didn’t get cast in either, but gained valuable auditioning experience)
Since the major part of the move is over, I feel like I’ll get a little calmer and get back into the groove. Updates will be far more frequent these days, promise!
HEADSHOTS!
So, big step, I got my headshots back from the printers.
Great quality, I must say, they get a big thumbs up in my book.
The photo itself, i’m not to hot about, so I’ll not disclose the photographer’s name.
Next step – SUBMIT SUBMIT SUBMIT!!!
I’m going to do a solid round of submissions to commercial agents…starting today!
I’M HONORED!!
I just figured out how to see if people are looking at my site. AND PEOPLE ARE!!! I am shocked, happily. THANK YOU FOR VISITING!!! I hope you are enjoying the content. I wish I was funny for ya, but I hope to at least be informative. Thanks Again, I’m so grateful!!!
Resources
I have no updates since yesterday, so I just wanted to list some sites I visit every day that may be very useful to an aspiring actress/actor. They have sides, casting alerts, you can post your resume and headshot, get TONS of info, mailing labels, info on agents/managers, and so much more. Oh and showfax/backstage have great forums with very helpful working actors and others in the biz who are a wonderful resource as well.
Happenings
This was a good week. I landed two auditions, one today and one for tomorrow. I’m a little nervous considering A) I have no headshots and I’ll have to use old comp cards stapled to my resume hahah; B) I have yet to memorize a monologue. I’m praying that they have copy to cold read at the audition.
I bought a new camera on thursday, a Canon EOS 30D. It’s beautiful, I had a shoot yesterday with it and just fell deeper in love. A few results from the shoot can be seen in the headshot and portrait galleries on my website, www.whimsyphotographics.com. I also did my first product shoot for a bakery called Let ‘Em Eat Cake. I’ll soon have those images posted in the products gallery.
This week’s Acting for Camera class with Chris Lutkin went well, I realized that I make some atrocious faces when on camera so I NEED to work on trying to not look like a monster. I also started a Commercial Improv class with Shirley Sender, a casting director here in NY. It was fantastic! I discovered that 1) I don’t suck, 2) I’m a ham, 3) Improv is AWESOME!
Humble Beginnings
Welcome to the wonderful world of ME!
The goal of this blog is to chronicle my journey to super stardom! (…or my journey to being able to make a living doing what I love)
What I love: Acting – Modeling – Photography
I’m at the very beginning of my climb to the top of the entertainment industry mountain so hopefully, if you are too, you can at least empathize with me or enjoy my journey as I go along as well. I plan on posting interesting links, articles, etc. that I find helpful here as well. Although this blog will be mainly focused on my acting/photography success, I’ll likely post items about success in general here too.
Background on me:
1. I’m awesome.
2. I decided to pursue my acting career (again-but seriously this time) like 2 weeks ago and already have had some fruitful occurrances (3 auditions…but no bookings)
3. I have a hellish 9-5 that I need to work my “future careers” around…. for now at least
4. I’m super positive, all about LOA, Personal Development and am a major goal-setter
I hope you check back frequently to see my progress! Sooner rather than later, I plan to soon be living the life I’ve always dreamed about, join me on my way!
